European Poker Scene Revitalized: WSOP 2023 brings 15 million euros in prize money back to the continent
The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) is set to return to King's Resort Rozvadov in Czechia from September 17 to October 8, 2023. This marks the follow-up to a successful event held at the same venue in 2022.
The WSOPE, a spin-off of the annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournament series that has been taking place in the USA since 1970, offers poker enthusiasts a chance to compete in a high-stakes tournament series. Originally held only in the USA, the WSOPE was introduced in 2007 to cater to an international audience.
The WSOPE 2023 schedule will feature a range of events, with the Main Event taking place during the period mentioned above. The exact prize pool for the Main Event is yet to be announced, but historically, WSOP Europe Main Events have seen significant prize pools, often in the millions of euros, aligned with high buy-ins typical of WSOP events.
Qualification for the WSOPE Main Event typically involves direct buy-ins at King's Resort for the Main Event, qualification through live satellites and online satellite tournaments hosted by WSOP partners and the King's Resort itself, and winners of WSOP Circuit rings and other feeder events may also qualify for the WSOPE Main Event or receive package deals.
In addition to the Main Event, several other events have seen an increase in their prize money. The Opener event, Mini Main Event, and Colossus event will all offer larger prize pools this year. The Opener event, with a 350 euro buy-in, will offer a potential prize of 1 million euros. The Mini Main Event, which had a prize money of 1 million euros last year, has been increased to 2 million euros this year. The Colossus event, another popular event, has seen an increase from 1 million euros to 1.5 million euros.
A total of 15 million euros and 15 golden bracelets are up for grabs in the WSOPE 2023. High rollers can test their skills at the 50K NLH Diamond High Roller tournament, with a buy-in of 50,000 euros and a 1 million euro prize pool up for grabs.
For those who wish to participate but find the buy-in for the Main Event too steep, satellite tournaments offer a way for hobby players to qualify for the WSOPE 2023 and the WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas. With a 108 euros buy-in, players can work their way up through Step 1 and potentially reach the final table of the WSOPE or the WSOP Paradise.
The WSOPE 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting event, with increased prize pools and the chance for hobby players to qualify for high-stakes tournaments. Stay tuned for more updates on the WSOPE 2023 as they become available.
